Every day on the road, there are new stories that make my life incredibly interesting and full of adventures. Yesterday morning, it started raining when I was the least ready for it. I was biking topless because of the hot weather, and none of my belongings (including electronics) were packed in plastic bags. So I stopped somewhere, and held my umbrella in my right hand and an empty bottle in my left hand, in order to collect some rainwater. After one hour, I continued my road towards the unknown. Suddenly, I got a puncture in my back tire. I could have sat down and fixed it, but it was already 5:30 pm, so I had to look for a place to spend the night before sunset came at 6:20 pm. I was looking for a nice and slightly elevated place to set my tent. I don’t wanna drown while sleeping hahaha. Then I started looking for wood to make a campfire ( fire can keep animals away, but can also attract people). In this case, there was no problem with people, they are cool in Northern Kenya. Unfortunately, it started raining again and my fire died away. Anyway, I started talking with family and friends on my phone and slept at 8 pm. Soon after midnight, I got woken up by some sounds! Oh my God, what the hell is that? It was some wild animals screaming and howling in the forest. I had never been that scared. I checked my phone to see where I was, and I was shocked when I saw that I was in a wild animal reserve. Holly shit !
I started talking with my friend on my phone, and he began laughing, which made me laugh as well about the situation I was in. Finally, I decided that no matter what happens, I would sleep and completely ignore the sounds. At 6 am, I woke up to leave the reserve as fast as I could. I fixed my bike and continued on my road. After 7kms, I found the reception of the reserve and they were shocked to hear that I slept alone inside. They explained that it was a family of hyenas and wild dogs making those sounds, and also explained what to do in case they attack. At the end of the day, I was very lucky and got a lesson out of it
